3 Ways to Juice up Your Motivation in Business

Happy Motivation Monday, my friend!  I’ve got some inspiring ways to boost your motivation in your small business and get you psyched for the week.  Ready for it?  Here we go…

Often times, as a small business owner, you lose sight of the prize, goal or vision you once had for small business.  During times of personal or business hardship, you get sidetracked.  Your attention goes other places.  You become unsure of yourself and your capabilities.  Heck, even on a day to day basis you are pulled in different directions, and if you are not jived about your business you can be taken off course badly.  So how do we stay the course?  How do you juice up the motivation in your business?

Strategies to Recharge the Motivation in Your Business

1) Find Inspriation:

Because of the many numberous distractions, you should always have something you know can motivate you and inspire you to take action in the right direction.  No one is going to be motivated 100% of the time.  We all go through challenges; however, you can find that place that feels right to you and revisit it to move you in the right direction.

“To succeed… You need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you.” - Tony Dorsett

The strongest motivation comes from within (intrinsic motivation).  Although others can play a role in motivating you (as you know I am always motivated by leaders like Tony Robbins), if you can motivate yourself to do the things you know will get you where you want to be in your business, you’re well on your way to reaching the mountain top.

That intrinsic motivation will come from a place of PASSION.

If you are passionate about the work you do in your business you will never work another day.

Conversely, if you dread or even dislike your work, then chances are slim that you will find inspiration to carry out the tasks you “need to do”…see that word “need”…it evokes a burdensome feeling.  When you “need” to do something you feel obligated as opposed to feeling great to carry out the task because you’d love to do it since you know it will help you reach your goals.  I won’t get into much semantics here, but just be aware that the words you use can tell you a whole lot about what your motivations are or aren’t.

If you are not too passionate, but do enjoy your work, find others to delgate tasks to and focus on what YOU do BEST.

When do you feel like you are in your groove?

What activities get you most excited?  Write it down, and do more of that!

2) Take More Action: The more action you take, the more confidence you build in yourself and your capabilities.  For instance, the more you work on your Search Engine Optimization and see yourself ranking higher in the search engines, the more confident you become in your skills, ability to learn, and ability to tackle on new small business marketing projects.

I have been online a lot shorter than my blog partners here (less than 2 years), yet, because I found a passion for connecting with, and building relationships with others online, as well as the marketing on the Internet, I’ve developed mega skills that I’ve honed and continue to sharpen.

The more action you take, the more empowered you feel.  The more results you see because of the action you take the more you want to do.

See  the yummy cycle?  It’s awesome!

3) Educate Yourself

The more you know about your business, marketing, and internet marketing for your small business, the more you will feel empowered.  Continue to read the content on this blog as well as the many excellent blogs in the blogosphere.

Educate yourself about your industry.

If you’re a realtor, live and breathe the real estate market.

If you’re a fitness coach, live and breathe the health and wellness industry.

If you’re a business coach, live and breathe the coaching business.

If you’re an online marketer, live and breathe the Internet.

Now, that does not mean to become a slave to your passion.  All the contrary.  We must all strive for balance.  Just make it a priority to continually educate yourself.  Learn more about yourself, your motivations, marketing, and your industry, and you’ll be a rock star in your niche.

  • Research your niche market.
  • What solutions are your target market looking for?
  • Find out and give it to them.
  • Sharpen your marketing skills.
  • Invest in yourself.
  • To succeed in business, to reach the top, an individual must know all it is possible to know about that business. -  J. Paul Getty

So go Juice up the motivation in your business:

    1. Find What inspires you
    2. Take Action
    3. Educate Yourself  and continue the process over again.

The only way around is through.  – Robert Frost:

Go, go, go!  The more you take action, the more you’ll believe, the more results you’ll see.

Tell us what do you do when you are not so motivated?  What gets YOU in your productivity groove?
