Happy Monday!
Today, let’s chat about developing focus in your small business internet maketing efforts. Many small business owners want to build an effective internet presence but don’t know where to begin.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn… Website or blog marketing?
It can be overwhelming, but we’ll help harmonize and make sense of this for you! Heck, we’re here to motivate and empower you to untangle the web and dominate your market with our blog columns (Twitter Tuesdays, Web Success Wednesdays, Tech Talk Thursdays, Facebook Fridays, and SEO (search engine optimization Saturdays).
Now, back to staying focused …:-)
When it comes to marketing your small business products and services, the key is to focus on one project at a time, and learn in increments.
Giving undivided attention to one task as opposed to multiple tasks at once is the best way to be productive and learn internet marketing at a faster rate. In addition, taking small time segments and educating yourself continually will help you master small business internet marketing.
If you’re unsure where to go…
The biggest question I receive from small business owners is:
“Dali, is it better for me to work on my website or start a small business blog?”
The Benefits of Small Business Blogging
I favor small business blogging simply because of the ease at which you can build a relationship with your potential clients. And we all know that people don’t do business with businesses; people do business with people who just happen to run businesses.
If you already have an existing website, your website is your professional face. While websites convey one-way information, a blog is like an ongoing conversation led and shaped by YOU. This is in contrast to a newsletter your client may receive on a monthly basis.
Blogging brings personality and an element of humanness into your marketing. Blogging can also help you showcase the value and the passion you have in your product and/or services.
People do business with those whom they know, like and trust, and a blog helps you:
- Build a brand
- Make connections
- Engage your readers (potential clients) in conversation – really getting to know their wants so you can more effectively market to them
- And be the clear person to do business with.
Blogs serve as marketing “hubs” that you can connect your website and social media/online social networks. Once you become a skilled blogger, you will notice your online social networks follow you on your blog and those who follow you on your blog follow you in your online social networks.
Does it take work to start a small business blog?
Well, yes. But if you are focused and desire to learn how to blog, you will learn the ropes quickly. Once you empower yourself and implement what you learn you will be ahead of your competition in your market. How great would it feel to be the first to engage and convert all the qualified clients out there that are searching for what you have to offer online!
