And no, I am not actually talking about cheating. Seriously, cheaters might win some small gains in the short term, but the law of karma is a bit*h if you know what I mean. It’s especially true in the small business game.
To be more accurate, this post is more about keeping the right information available through a commonly used technique called *cheat sheets*.
From a technical standpoint, trying to remember the 93 methods to select data from a MySQL database or the 412 variations on the short codes of CSS is getting a little much for this 48 year old brain. I need a little help. Hey, I might need a LOT of help some days as I believe senility might be settling in behind the eyes.
I came across a cheat sheet yesterday that blew me away. It’s probably not one you need unless you are planning to hack your blog’s theme code, but his site offered up cheat sheets on a variety of subjects, from Python to Regular Expressions. HTML and CSS to Ruby on Rails.
Each are beautifully presented in both PDF and PNG format, and designed to fit on one printed page. They are not all inclusive, but help jar the old noggin on what you know, and show you what you don’t know.
I have three hanging on my office walls. No, they are not framed. Just sticky tape to the nearest clear spot on the wall. I pull them down and make notes on the margins as needed.
Hey, it’s Tech-Thursday and it doesn’t get any more technical than cheat sheets!
