When arriving at an Internet marketing strategy your online business presence is key to attracting clients. Having a presence on various social network platforms is critical to increasing your visibility online.
Visibility means your content, whether that be your blog, website, articles, videos, podcasts etc., are accessible to various communities on the web.
The more places you are, the broader your reach, the more visible you are to your target market, and the more you’ll conduct business online.
Now, as a Small Business owner, chances are you may not have tons of time to work on your online marketing strategy or don’t even know where to begin.
That is okay!
The neat thing is that in order to begin to learn online social networking, all you have to do is select one or two social networking platforms (i.e. LinkedIn and Facebook) and figure out how those platforms work.
So, let’s talk about 4 Steps to enhance your online business presence with your online social networking.
You will significantly increase your online visibility by making sure:
1) Your Blog Posts (and/or website) are visible on your social networking profiles.
This is a no-brainer, but you’ll be surprised that sometimes, a small business owner forgets to add their blogs to their profiles.
Think about it…
If you are on 4 social network platforms and have your blog content syndicated across those platforms, you have significantly expanded your reach. Not only will you get picked up (indexed) by Google and your present readership, but you will gain recognition and exposure among all those connections on your other social networking sites. This is powerful.
If you need a tutorial here for a particular social networking website, go on and request one on our “Ask the Experts” Page and we’ll get one up here for you.
2) You use “Status Updates”
Utilize status updates every now and again to update your “friends” or “connections” on what you are up to by posting a status update. But warning: there’s a fine line here between “spamming” and adding value; you will want to not only place a link for your next event but also on something you are reading that pertains to your industry and will provide value to your potential clients.
Status updates are short and to the point (for instance Twitter allows you a maximum of 140 characters, including spacing and punctuation). Status updates, remind your followers that you are there and help you build your brand.
There is a cool service at Ping.fm that allows you to automate the process of posting status updates across multiple social network platforms! It rocks. I completely almost cried when I found out about it.
3) Participate in and Create your own Groups
The more you are seen in groups of interest to you and within your professional/business genre, the more you build a brand for yourself, and the more you will attract clients.
When you join groups, see how other group leaders are using their group to promote their brand, products and services. Take the good, the bad, and the ugly and make mental notes of how you would run your online group to attract business.
4) Promote Events
Whether they are local live events or online events or teleseminars, promote your business events. The more consistently you promote, the more visible you become. Another note of caution here, make sure you promote others’ events too!
I would say it should be at least 50/50 when it comes to promoting others’ events. Perhaps even more in the favor of promoting others first. You’ll come across as unselfish and a business owner that promotes the value of others first, becoming a very attractive person to conduct business with.
Those are 4 easy steps to increase your online visibility.
