The Role of Passion in Small Business Internet Marketing Strategy

When considering devising your small business Internet marketing strategy, passion is a powerful catalyst for Internet marketing success.

As I’ve grown as an online entrepreneur and small business owner, I’ve learned along the way that it is a lot easier to excel in a particular kind of marketing when you can use your God given natural talents and abilities and you have a natural passion for something.

As I developed my passion for blogging and building relationships online, I was able to create content (write blog posts) that attracted like-minded entrepreneurs.  As a result, I’ve built profitable business partnerships with others.  It is how I met my Secrets to Web Success partners Cenay Nailor and Deontee Gordon.

So, the first question any small business owner should ask is “What am I passionate about?”

It’s funny that, although, this might seem logical, many marketing experts, will recommend something that’s just “the in kind of marketing” and completely dismiss whether or not the small business owner has a natural affinity or talent that will be instrumental in thriving or just surviving online.

For instance, if a particular small business owner is just not a great writer, chances are he or she will not want to blog.  Perhaps having a video blog would work  better.  If they the person does not like being in front of a camera, then blogging may not be something this person will want to invest his/her time in.  If they understand the power of blogging to attract clients, then perhaps they might decide to delegate a business partner, who enjoys writing, to be the small business blogger.

There are many solutions to creating an online presence and attracting customers, but passion has to be a cornerstone to deciding on a small business internet marketing strategy.

When you are passionate about something, you automatically pour all of your attention and effort into it. Your natural and true creativity, strengths, motivation and ultimate success will stem from your passion.  Thus, knowing what you are passionate about is critical in deciding what online marketing strategy you will take and run with.

Do you enjoy telling a story?  Do you love to write?

Small business blogging would be a great place for you to start building a brand and attracting clients.

Do you enjoy speaking in front of audiences?

Video blogging or video marketing would be a excellent internet marketing strategies to learn.

Do you find it easy to build relationships and rapport with people offline?

If so, it’s just as easy for you to build relationships online through a few online social networking platforms.

There are a plethora of online social networking platforms that cater to small businesses doing business online (i.e. Active Rain for Realtor’s, Better Networker for Network Marketers).  In order to find these folks, it just take a little market research and intuition.  You’ll primarily want to ask yourself, where would your target audience hang out online?
