One of the key components of achieving success in your web marketing is knowing (and learning) how to convey the value of your products and services.
You convey value by “selling” the benefits of your product while resonating with your target audience’s experiences and core (as opposed to selling features).
Whether you realize it or not, you always sell yourself and your services via your web copy, email marketing and verbal communication.
Crafting web copy that captures your audience’s core and creates a compelling reason for them to buy from you takes time, training and effort.
However, one thing that you can do quicker to help your web marketing success is learn your value. In fact, before you can impact your target market, through your web content, or offline marketing content for that matter, you’ve got to discover YOUR value.
Web Marketing Success Tip: How To Uncover Your Value
Begin by asking yourself these questions:
- What am I currently charging for my services?
- Why am I currently charging this/these rate?
- How did I arrive at these rates?
Now Think critically and be honest with yourself about this. How do you feel?
Do you feel you charge too high or too low for your services? Usually you will feel more one way than the other.
Begin uncovering your value by listing all of your “notable accomplishments” as they pertain to your industry. You’ve attended trainings, served clients, been in business for so many years. You’ve also done other things in previous industries (speaking, writing, managing, coaching) that have assisted you along your journey to entrepreneurship. All of your experiences have prepared you for who you are today.
When you start adding all of those experiences, certificates, and certifications, you’ll soon realize you may be undervaluing your services and it may also be coming across in your web marketing efforts.
I recently read an article by Nathan Hagen on how the price you charge sets the customer. In Hagen’s words:
“When you charge $7 for something, you are going to attract customers that are tight with their money and that hate spending money on info products. But if you charge $700 for the same thing, then you’re going to attract people that are willing to invest and realize that they’ll also have to put in some work to become successful.”
Are you in business to impact the lives or your audience while earning a profit, or are you one who wants to settle for limiting your profit potential?
This is not to say you should charge Frank Kern $10,000 for a product or service (you may decide that your value is double that or that it may be significantly less than that). The important thing is that you feel right about your value and what you can do to impact the lives and experiences of those you do business with.
Web Success Ah Ha: You Set YOUR Value and Pricing Then Your Pricing Will Set Your Clients!
If you charge too low you will attract clients with no money. If you charge a premium you will attract those who see the value in continuing their education and in your services. The key thing is that what you charge and your perceived value are in alignment and you don’t feel an internal conflict about your pricing.
I will be touching on this concept this Friday with my business partner the Motivation Mama (Denise J. Hart). So come and join us!
